Great, now I want to read the books again...

But that always happens every time I see any of the Harry Potter movies, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that I want to read them all again now.

I've now made it through all eight movies and it was odd...  I've never sat and watched more than one or two movies at a time but I've packed them all in to just under 2 days.  It was so weird to see how the kids change from movie to movie.  We all knew it happened, you can tell just by looking at the DVD cases.  But when you sit and watch them all one after another, you see the changes so much more.  There isn't a huge amount of change in the movies themselves so when you end one and turn the next on, it's a big difference.  And, of course, it's hilarious to see them all go through that horrible awkward phase where pretty much all the boys were unfortunate-looking.  And it was also interesting to watch all the movies together to see how the style of the movies changed.  Of course, the books changed in tone as it got further into the series, getting darker but the movies changed differently.  Watching them all back-to-back also made me notice little things that changed between movies - the school uniforms changing, the sets...  It had never dawned on me before that those were consistent through the whole series.

Oh, and this didn't take as long as I expected... I ended up watching the first two movies on Friday, three through six yesterday and both parts of the seventh movie this morning.  I have to admit, for a while, I was thinking that I had missed a movie somewhere.  There were so many things that I didn't remember seeing - like Hermione with her S.P.E.W. stuff and Firenze teaching Divination, just to name a few.  I could have SWORN those bits made it into the movies but apparently not.

So that's another one off the list.  Time to go transfer another $25 into the TFSA that doesn't have a rapidly declining balance.

Today is Random Acts of Kindness Day

So it seemed like a perfect day to execute a thoroughly thought out, pre-planned act of kindness.  I've been really good about not going to Starbucks on my way to work lately.  I've hardly gone at all since moving and I think I've only gone once since we got the Keurig.  But this morning, I didn't turn the Keurig on.  I went to Starbucks.  And I bet you can guess what I did....

I paid for the guy behind me in the drive thru.  I was almost up at the window to claim my latte when someone else finally pulled in.  I was beginning to think I'd have to circle through again!  Anyway.  When I got to the window and gave the girl my card, I asked her to put the guy behind me through on my card, too, if there was enough on it.  There was - he was only getting a coffee and my card had been topped up recently.  I was kind of nervous about the whole thing so I skedaddled and didn't get a chance to see his reaction. I'd like to think he was pleasantly surprised.

And with that quick getaway, I knocked another Thing off my list.
